What was your inspiration?

Hi Dominic,
thanks for your interest. Writing a whole, long book means that one has many, many sources of inspiration. To break a complex set of motivations down to the most basic level however, I usually explain that I simply desperately wanted to READ a popular style novel set in T'dad, my home country and that having encouraged everyone I knew to write such a book for me without success, I was forced to write it myself. the matter came to a head one day when I read a potentially satisfying one which proved to be less so than I expected.I simply got up and started to write and never stopped until the first draft of Ti Marie was finished.
take care dominic!

Hi Valerie,
I wonder if you can clarify for me whether all the fascinating history in your novel really happened or if was mostly the product of your imagination? after all, it is fiction so there is nothing wrong with creating stuff but from the little bits of history of T&T that I know it really sounds real. do let me know.

Hi Marcy,
Yes, the history did happen. I too thought it was amazing that one little island had so much exciting history in one relatively short period of time. Just for the record, the frist person to read the novel in MS form was a well known T'dad historican. She was able to verify what I had written.
Great question though!
